HESSCO Elder Services Partners with Sharon Council on Aging
As part of your New Year Resolutions why not get connected to a Caregiver Support Group?
HESSCO Elder Services along with the Sharon COA will be offering a free caregiver support group that will give people who care for elderly relatives or friends the chance to meet others in the same situation. This six-session series will offer caregivers a chance to renew and relax every other week. Michelle Wyman and Susan Edinger, both licensed social workers, will facilitate the meetings. The group will be held at the new Sharon Adult Center on Community Center Drive on Tuesdays. Free parking is available and light refreshments will be served.
Finding out that an experience or a feeling is shared by others can be a tremendous relief. By experiencing the relief and support offered in a caregiver support group, caregivers can feel better able to cope with the stressful aspects of providing care to an elder. Learning about community resources is another added benefit.
Those interested in attending this group must register by calling Michelle Wyman at HESSCO Elder Services, 781-784-4944 or Susan Edinger at the Sharon COA, 781-784-8000. Help may be available if care for the elder is needed in order for the caregiver to attend. This may include funding through the HESSCO Elder Services’ Family Caregiver Support Program.
