HESSCO Elder Services Teams Up with Local Subaru Dealership to “Share the Love” this Holiday Season

Clay Subaru of Norwood is ringing in the holidays with HESSCO Elder Services as part of Subaru’s national “Share the Love” campaign.

Clay Subaru has signed on to deliver Meals on Wheels for HESSCO in the town of Norwood this holiday season.  Starting today, December 18, 2009 through New Year’s Eve, employees have volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels.

“We are thrilled that Clay Subaru has stepped up to the plate to help us during the holiday season,” said Mary Raczka, Director of Communications and Fund Development at HESSCO Elder Services.  “Many of the seniors we serve spend the holiday season alone in their homes.  A nutritious meal from a friendly volunteer makes all the difference in the world. This person to person contact also serves as a check on an elderly person’s health.  We like to call it feeding the stomach and the soul” adds Raczka.

“1 in 9 seniors in America is facing the threat of hunger right now,” said Enid Borden, President and CEO of Meals on Wheels Association of America (MOWAA).  “Subaru’s commitment to our cause will truly help us provide the next meal “so no senior goes hungry.”

HESSCO Elder Services is dedicated to finding solutions to help those over sixty take full advantage of their later years.  The agency’s goal is to make it easier for older individuals and their families to access a comprehensive system of health and supportive services.” To learn the latest about services for the elderly in South Norfolk County or inquiry about volunteering, call HESSCO Elder Services at 781-784-4944 or visit www.hessco.org.

Meals on Wheels Association of America works every day with thousands of local Meals on Wheels programs and hundreds of thousands of volunteers who all share in the mission to end senior hunger.  The organization provides the tools and information its programs need to make a difference in the lives of others.  It also gives cash grants to local senior meal programs throughout the country to assist in providing meals and other nutrition services.
